Junior Nwachukwu
Mentee - Andrea Queens Theatre Company Intern
Our Afro beat Angel - Junior was our very first mentee and we have seen him fly.
Junior has gone from was working in admin with little dance training and knowledge to working as a professional dancer and teacher.
In 2014 he was the intern for, 'Migrant Conversation', a theatre work by Andrea Queens Theatre Company.
Junior is still part of our mentoring program as he transitions to a theatre maker interested in text and dance for stage.
Who are you and what do you do?
I'm Junior Nwachukwu and I am an artist looking to explore story telling through dance.
What have you learnt as an AQ Arts Mentee?
I have been mentored by AQ Arts for about 2 years and have also taken part in the internship scheme. I have learnt about setting goals and keeping a structure. Structure is very important in regards to getting to your main goal and I feel AQ Arts has helped me with this tremendously.
What have you enjoyed most?
What I have enjoyed most is how Andrea makes her mentees feel welcomed straight away . I found it every easy to talk to her about my goals and even other issues. Andrea truly listens and makes her mentees think in a positive and productive way.
Would you recommend an AQ Arts Mentor and why?
Yes yes and yes! Andrea spends quality time with her mentees and really makes them think about the next step. This Woman has wisdom for days!!!
What new doors, ideas, goals and visions have AQ Arts helped you see or reach that you didn't think you could have reached before?
I feel AQ arts has taught me that hard work pays off. My more importantly follow your path and enjoy the journey, and this is what I aim to do.
